Keppel reiterated its strong commitment to grow with Vietnam over the long term during a delegation visit to Keppel Corporation led by Vietnam Minister of Planning and Investment, H.E. Bui Quang Vinh, on 4 November 2014. The Minister was accompanied by leaders from the Kien Giang, Ha Tinh and Nghe An Provinces who were in Singapore to promote foreign investment in Phu Quoc Island, located in the southern province of Kien Giang.
The visit was hosted by Keppel Land CEO Mr Ang Wee Gee. Joining him were Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation (Keppel T&T) CEO Mr Thomas Pang and Keppel FELS ED (Process Excellence and Planning) Mr Wong Fook Seng.
During the meeting, H.E. Vinh lauded Keppel for its contributions to Vietnam's development and welcomed Keppel to explore further opportunities in the country. Keppel first entered the Vietnam market in the 1980s when Keppel FELS built Tam Dao 1, Vietnam's first jackup drilling rig. In the Property Division, Keppel Land is a pioneer and one of the largest foreign developers in Vietnam with a pipeline of about 22,000 homes. The company is currently constructing Phase 1A of Riviera Point in District 7 of Ho Chi Minh City which is expected to be handed over to homebuyers in December 2014. Construction for Saigon Centre Phase 2 in the central business district has also commenced and the retail mall is expected to be opened in 2H 2016.
In the Infrastructure Division, Keppel T&T is operating close to 60,000 sm of warehouse space in the north and south of Vietnam. It is further bolstering its presence in South Vietnam with a new warehouse that is undergoing construction in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park 1 in Binh Duong Province.
