For Keppel, 2014 was a year of many firsts, including the delivery of the world's largest jackup rig and the listing of Asia's first data centre REIT. As Keppel continues to be configured to capture strategic opportunities in 2015 and beyond, Keppelite looks back at milestones achieved during the year.
Keppel Datahub 2 became the first new data centre in Singapore to achieve the Platinum Award for BCA-IDA Green Mark, the highest green accolade conferred by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) specifically for data centre developments.
On 1 June 2014, Mr Loh Chin Hua succeeded Mr Teo Soon Hoe as Chairman of Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation (Keppel T&T) and Mr Chan Hon Chew was appointed to the Keppel T&T Board as a Non-Executive and Non-Independent Director.
On 1 July 2014, Mr Thomas Pang was appointed CEO of Keppel T&T and to the company's Board as an Executive Director. Mr Khor Poh Hwa was appointed to the Board of Keppel T&T as a Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director. Mr Michael Chia stepped down as a Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director and member of the Board Risk Committee and Board Safety Committee of Keppel T&T.
Mr Lim Chin Leong was appointed to the Board of Keppel T&T as an Independent, Non-Executive Director, and member of the Nominating Committee and Board Safety Committee on 1 September 2014.
Keppel Logistics expanded its capabilities down under with Keppel Logistics (Australia) with a 10,000 sm warehouse in Brisbane, Australia. The warehouse currently serves as a Regional Distribution Centre serving the Australian and New Zealand markets of international publisher Wiley, with Keppel Logistics (Australia) providing warehouse management and local transportation services.
Keppel T&T entered into a sale and purchase agreement with the Reggeborgh Group and VolkerWessels Group to acquire Almere Data Centre 2 located in Almere, the Netherlands.
Keppel T&T's proposed divestment of its interests in Keppel Digihub, Keppel Datahub 1, Gore Hill Data Centre and Citadel 100 Data Centre, and their proposed injection into Keppel DC REIT to its shareholders was approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting on 25 November 2014.
Keppel DC REIT made a strong debut on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange, becoming the first data centre REIT listed in Asia and the largest REIT IPO in Singapore for the year-to-date with $512.9 million raised. Mr Chua Hsien Yang was appointed CEO of Keppel DC REIT Management
Keppel T&T entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire Almere Data Centre 2, a purpose-built shell and core data centre facility located in Almere, the Netherlands
